My favorite blogs: http://espn.go.com/espn/blogshttp://www.theguardian.com/news/blog

My experience with blogs is very limited, other than the two blogs listed above. From time to time I would check into these blogs for sports opinions, news, and things I found interesting. The best blog is the ESPN sports blog because it gives credible, up to date information regarding my favorite sports and teams. I appreciate its opinions, insights and forecasts involving my favorite sports team. The ESPN blogs are great fun for an inside look into the locker room take on some of today's hot sports topics. Some problems I have are finding which blogs are credible, and which have current information without bias. A quality blog is one that gives up to date and accurate information, that is also credible, yet opinionated. I like blogs with an upbeat tone, not too serious with a little humor to keep the reader interested. I think the sports blogs accomplish this with ease because the information is not as stressful and lends itself to find humor in most situations. I feel a sports blog can help students become better readers because it will capture their attention if they are involved in sports activities thus igniting the desire to participate in said blogs. I also feel the information on a sports blog is always changing, never stale, is fresh and captivating to the sports fan. Sports blog entries tend to be shorter than most blogs and more inviting for a debate because we either dislike a team or root for a team. Some issues with blogging are not knowing if the information being presented is credible or not. You have to do research and know which blogs are reliable. With students already having too much screen time blogging can contribute to headaches, poor eyesight, and carpal tunnel. My blog will have insights into reading and writing for the grade school student, strategies for improving reading and writing for the grade school student, and open discussions on reading and writing in our schools.

  1. Great insights on the world of blogging. I also have limited experience with blogs. I think people that like writing are the ones that can find their space as bloggers. I also consider that blogs could be beneficial for students to help them with their reading skills, and also their writing by having the opportunity to tell about something they are interested in.
